Pageant Interview: Miss and Teens

Our Miss and Teen contestants will compete in a press style interview as the first phase of their competition. You will be standing behind a podium and facing your judges panel. They will be seated at one long table and the interview will start immediately as you enter the room.

Miss interviews are 9 minutes and 30 seconds. At 9:30, the judges will stop you and ask if you have anything to say in conclusion - this is called your closing statement. You have 30 seconds to make a closing statement if you choose. After those :30 seconds are complete, your interview is complete.

Teen interviews at the local level are 6 minutes long with NO closing statement allowed.

You will be asked questions from your platform, resume, and really...everything else! Now is the time to review your basic current events, start talking about your passions and your dreams, figure out why you want this title etc! Convince the judges that you are the right girl for the job!

Wear: your favorite dress, suit, or pant outfit. Dresses are the most popular option. Do not forget your heels and basic jewelry. No gloves, hats, scarves, purses, etc.

Teen: 25% of your overall score

Competitions

On-Stage Question: Miss, Teen,

Pre-Teen, and Princess + Prince

Depending on your age group, your on-stage question will be at a different part in the show.

Miss contestants will wear their opening number dress and will answer their question immediately after the opening  number dance. This will be done in numerical order and for our local, your questions will be based off of your platform statement that you submitted. For MISS contestants, this is 5% of your overall score.

Teens, Pre-Teens, and Princesses will answer their questions while IN their evening gown. Princes will be dressed in their formal attire. ALL will chat with our emcee then move to center stage to do their routine, as specified by our pageant choreographer. For TEENS, this score is combined with your evening gown score for 25% of your score.

Everyone will have 20 seconds to answer their on-stage question. You will want to stand up tall and make eye contact with your judges and the audience.

Fitness: Miss, Teens, Pre-teens

Fitness is a fabulous part of our competition! This is the time to show the judges how dedicated you are to being a healthy role model to others AND how much you believe in the idea of "committment"!

Miss contestants MUST wear a swimsuit. You can wear either a one or two piece. You should also wear nude colored heels and jewelry (i.e. earrings). No pantyhose or sarongs.

Teen contestants MUST wear aerobic wear. At our local, you can choose a full or crop top. However, you MUST wear a black cropped legging/yoga pant (no shorts). We also suggest black sneakers and jewelry of your choice (i.e. post earrings).

Miss: 15% of your overall score

Teen: 15% of your overall score

Talent: Miss, Teens, Pre-teens

Miss America has always been a talent competition - this is the best part! Are you a singer? Can you dance? Do you twirl baton? Can you jump rope really fast? Well, that's all talent! Show us what you have!

You can wear whatever is most appropriate for your talent. Think of the "entertainment factor"!

Your talent can be NO LONGER than 90 seconds. Anyone that goes over the time limit will have points deducted.

If you have a track that goes with your talent, make sure to email it in by the deadline AND bring a backup CD just in case to pageant weekend!

Miss: 35% of your overall score

Teen: 35% of your overall score

Evening Wear Dress: Miss, Teen,

Pre-Teen, and Princess (Prince in suits)

What's a pageant without a gown? Grab your fave pageant gown (or prom gown or homecoming gown etc) and get ready to rock the stage!

You can wear whatever you feel best fits your personal style and shape, but we suggest that your gowns be floor-length and they should be comfortable for you to walk in (and be crowned in). Don't forget that you can take your gown to your local seamstress for a hem/alteration in the bust, for length, or whatever!

You will walk to a walking pattern determined by our pageant choreographer and no changes can be made to your walking pattern. You may pose however you like at your specified stops, however.

Miss: 20% of your overall score

Teen: 25% of your overall score (this is combined with your on-stage question score)

Casual Wear Modeling: Princess + Prince ONLY

Break out the most fabulous outfit out of your closest and get ready to work the stage!

This is a special feature for our princesses + princes only. Create an outfit that best describes your personality and wear during the Princess/Prince Fashion Show!

Red Dress: Miss, Teen, Pre-Teen, and

Princess + Prince (red shirt, black pants)

Every contestant is required to participate in the opening dance for our show. You will learn the opening dance on pageant weekend - don't worry, our choreographer makes it really easy on you!

The dance is NOT scored and it is NOT part of the competition, but the judges do want to see you having fun!

This will be the portion of the show where you are introduced to the audience as well! You will need a short, red party dress. The RED dress can have accents of other colors, but the majority of the dress should be red. Be sure to grab a pair of nude or silver heels and your jewelry to complete your outfit.

And don't forget your smile!

NOTE: prince participants will wear a red shirt and black pants to match the girls!
